Shangai's Thanksgiving

What a wonderful meal, SUSHI! No avocados in Dalian, but there are in Shanghai! This is the first time I have ever had sushi for Thanksgiving.

We left on Thursday, our plane was delayed on the way there, so we arrived in the evening and we just ate our thanksgiving dinner. My mom had Indian food and sushi, my brother had macaroni and cheese, and sushi and chicken, my dad had turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, Indian food and some Chinese food. I had SUSHI!

On Friday we went to YuYuan gardens. I had been there before, but it was still fun. Except for when my mom made me take pictures. Last time when I was there with Auntie Nori and Uncle David it was HOT! We were dripping with sweat. This time, not so much.

For lunch we ate at Element Fresh, I did not like the food, but at least it wasn't Chinese. That afternoon we went shopping at the Super Brand Mall, it had seven floors! Me, Dad, Emma, Erin and the Fendrick parents shopped at Toy's R Us. I wanted to buy a nerf gun, but they didn't have the one I wanted, so I am just waiting for Christmas.

That evening we went to an acrobat show!

My favorite thing was this one where there were three circles inside of one big circle that looked like a Ferris wheel. Three men were in each hoop. On the big hoop they would jump rope and it was really high up. Maybe three floors high. I wouldn't have that good of balance. I think they were some brave men. I felt like they were about to fall off, I would never want to be on the top. It was amazing!

My second favorite part were the motorcycles. There was a huge cage that looked like a hamster wheel. First there was one motorcycle looping around and around and upside down. Then another joined in, so there were two motorcycles. They went around and around and upside down. Then another joined in, so there was three! They went around and around and upside down. I felt like they were going to bump. They were going sooooo fast I think if they crashed I think they might have died. Once there was three in there I was hoping there were no more coming in, but......then another came in! They went around and around and upside down. Me and my mom and Emma started shouting "NO! NO! NO MORE!" because we thought they were going to crash. I would say there was about four feet in between, maybe even two feet in between. They were super close to each other, so there would be room for more. Another came in, and more and more and more. We couldn't believe it when there ended up being eight motorcycles!

That night everyone was exhausted.

Next to our hotel (The Shangrila) was the Super Brand Mall so we ate the restaurant Blue Frog. Blue Frog was in the Super Brand Mall. I hated dinner, but at least it wasn't Chinese.

The next we just shopped at under the Science and Technology Museum. I got a new red big, big, huge, huge backpack.

We took the MAGLEV to the airport, it went 431 kilometers per hour (about 267 mph). That's REALLY FAST!

We had a great time, and a great trip in Shanghai!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving, Cole! Maybe I should try sushi for dinner too. I'm glad it wasn't so hot at the gardens this time and I wish we could have gone with you. It looks beautiful with the fall colors. Thanks for writing your blog. I LOVE to read it. It feels like I get to have a nice chat with you. So, are you going to be an acrobat when you grow up?
